3 Reasons to Commission Artwork

Most of you follow me on Instagram and see me making some really cool one of a kind pieces - these are often Commissions, artworks that one person has said “I really want you to do something that looks like this…. or in this particular colour….”

Commissioning artwork is one of the most exciting things you can do in the art world, but many people don't know where to start or what to expect.

Here are 3 things to know about commissions - they are not some big art secret, but instead a way for you to make something that you know you will LOVE that no one else has!

  1. You become part of the creative process

Commissioning art is your chance to be a part of the creative process and bring to life something that you will connect with forever. For artists, it's also a chance to build lasting relationships with their collectors. You don't need to wait for a collection to drop, and you don't need to hope and pray that a piece in your colour preference can be yours…. you can just make it happen!

2. Create something as unique as you

Instead of a one fits all approach to art, commissioned art is specific, sophisticated, and fulfils a purpose.

Commissioned artworks can showcase a dedicated message you want to convey in a creative way. You can take a moment, a story or any kind of meaning or thought you have in your life and share it with an artist to capture on a canvas forever. Pretty cool, huh?

3. Support the arts and become a collector

Supporting an artist pursue their creative career is an invaluable contribution to the arts and enters you into the wonderful world of art collecting! Chances are if you are thinking about commissioning art you have been around a lot of it,  know what you like, and appreciate the time and effort it takes to make a one-of-a-kind painting.
